Self Care: Careful Nurturing

How do you love yourself? This is important because if you cannot see the beauty and wonder of your own heart, how can others? If you cannot respect your health on all levels: physical, mental, emotional and spiritual, how will your children know these parts of themselves have value? This worth extends outward to your partner and to your community.

Self-care is an ultimate act of service to yourself and the larger world. It is not a luxury, a treat, self-indulgence or a way to ‘spoil yourself’. All of that language around self-care depreciates the value of what is essential, impeccable and loving.

Being able to care for yourself directly benefits you and your whole family. By caring for yourself, you consciously create a strong center, and allows you to give from a place of stability and confidence.

And here is another important fact: You can’t truly give from a place of emptiness or lack —which only further depletes your resources and energy. Fill yourself up with abundance of care and you will have personal resources to share.

Soul Challenge : Self Care

Write a vow of self-care

Take a moment to make a sacred vow to yourself about how you will care for YOU. Anything you do that fills your heart and spirit, that honors the wonder of your consciousness and your body is impeccable self-care. This doesn’t have to be expensive or complicated.

Mindful breathing, walking in nature or reading something which reminds you of love are just a few ways to fill your cup. Dancing, singing, drumming, playing, celebrating the simple wonder of our being are even more ways to elevate this vow to sacred. Embracing your
‘holy no’, having clear boundaries, taking time for yourself with a long bath or shower, anointing yourself with scented oils, flower essences, crystals, and living in the beauty way through your words and actions are even more ways to live out your vow.

All of these small acts are gifts to yourself to make your heart space more beautiful and abundant. The more you put in, the more there is to flow out, thus sprinkling everyone one around your abundant love dust.
